2015 Country of Honor: New Zealand
2015 Country of Honor: New Zealand
New Zealand is honoured to have been selected as Country of Honor for the 2015 China Education Expo, and looks forward to showcasing to Chinese students and their families what New Zealand education has to offer. Due to our size (4.5 million people), New Zealand will never be a “mass” overseas study destination. We provide a personalised study experience for those who want to study in a country where they will always be more than just a number.

NZ offers high quality English-language education in a safe, welcoming, multicultural and beautiful environment – indeed, a 2014 HSBC global survey found New Zealand to be the first choice amongst respondents as the ideal place to raise a child. New Zealand caters to international students of all ages, right across the spectrum, from primary school through to postgraduate study. New Zealand education is globally recognized for its quality: our secondary schools perform well in PISA (and our private schools perform second-best out of global private schools). We only have 8 universities in New Zealand, all are owned by the New Zealand government, and all are ranked in the top 3% of all of the world’s universities. They all feature in the top 550 QS rankings list (we are the only country with this 100% success rate). In many different subject areas we rank in the top 50 in the world – for instance, civil and structural engineering at Canterbury University ranks higher than this programme at Oxford and Cornell. We have 18 institutes of technology and polytechnics (ITPs) which are again all owned by the New Zealand government, and which excel in delivering applied education in partnership with industry and which produce graduates who can begin working on the day that they graduate. We also have a number of leading, private, specialist education providers in New Zealand, all of which are quality-assured by the New Zealand government, and which deliver qualifications in areas ranging from hotel management to aviation; from fashion design to animation.

At CEE 2015 we look forward to further highlighting the strengths of New Zealand education. A range of associated activities will also take place, including the holding of the 4th New Zealand – China Higher Education Forum.
